Jordan Montgomery struggled mightily in Wednesday's matchup against the Marlins, surrendering six earned runs on ten hits while striking out four over 5.2 innings.
Fantasy Impact:
The Diamondbacks still managed to secure a 10-8 victory, but Montgomery's performance did little to inspire confidence. His season ERA ballooned to 6.44, accompanied by a concerning 1.67 WHIP. Given these metrics and his low strikeout rate of 6.3 K/9, fantasy managers should be wary. Montgomery's inability to limit hits and runs significantly diminishes his value in all formats, and his high BABIP of .355 suggests he's been somewhat unlucky, but not enough to expect significant improvement. Proceed with caution if considering him for your fantasy rotation.
