Keider Montero Struggles Again in Tigers' Defeat

Keider Montero endured another rough outing, allowing four earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings in Thursday's 7-1 loss to the Royals.
Fantasy Impact:
Montero's season has been marred by inconsistency, as evidenced by his bloated 6.18 ERA and 1.37 WHIP through seven starts. His performance against the Royals did little to reassure fantasy managers, with a lackluster three strikeouts and a continuation of his trend of giving up too many runs. Given his high ERA, weak strikeout rate (7.0 K/9), and poor win-loss record, Montero remains a risky play in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues. His inability to mitigate damage or dominate opposing hitters significantly caps his fantasy upside.
