MacKenzie Gore struggles, Nats still outslug Cards

by Chris Schommer | Nationals Correspondent | Sat, Jul 27th 6:24am EDT

MacKenzie Gore had a rough outing, surrendering six earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in Friday's 10-8 victory over the Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite the Nationals pulling off a win, Gore's performance was less than stellar, contributing to an already inflated season ERA of 4.51 and WHIP of 1.50. His high BABIP of .368 suggests he's been somewhat unlucky this season, but his inability to limit hits and runs in this game aligns with those troubling metrics. Fantasy managers should be cautious; while his strikeout rate remains strong at 10.3 K/9, his overall inconsistency this season makes him a risky play in all but the deepest of leagues.
