J.D. Martinez struggles at plate, Mets still edge Marlins

by Chris Schommer | Mets Correspondent | Sun, Jul 21st 9:20am EDT

J.D. Martinez went 1-for-4 in the Mets' narrow 1-0 victory over the Marlins.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite the team's win, Martinez's personal performance was underwhelming, failing to contribute significantly to the Mets' offense with no runs or RBIs. His season batting average now sits at .260, which, combined with a .341 wOBA, indicates a somewhat disappointing output, especially considering his role as a designated hitter expected to provide power and production. His strikeout rate remains a concern, and today's game did little to reassure fantasy managers of a turnaround. Martinez's fantasy value is currently tethered to his ability to drive in runs and hit for power, both of which have been sporadic this season.
