Yusei Kikuchi struggles again in Blue Jays' defeat

by Chris Schommer | Astros Correspondent | Sun, Jul 21st 6:29am EDT

Yusei Kikuchi endured another rough outing, allowing four earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over five innings in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Tigers.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite showcasing his ability to rack up strikeouts, Kikuchi's inconsistency continues to plague his season, as evidenced by his elevated 4.54 ERA and 1.31 WHIP through 21 starts. His high strikeout rate (10.1 K/9) remains a silver lining for fantasy managers, but his struggles with run prevention and a losing record (now 4-9) make him a risky play in most fantasy formats. The elevated BABIP (.339) suggests some bad luck, yet the persistent command issues are a larger concern for those relying on him in their rotations.
