Edwin Diaz secures shaky save in Mets' narrow victory

by Chris Schommer | Mets Correspondent | Sat, Jul 13th 9:17am EDT

Edwin Diaz walked two but managed to keep the Rockies scoreless to notch his 10th save in the Mets' 7-6 win on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite a rocky outing that saw him issue a pair of walks, Diaz did enough to secure the victory, though not without causing some heart palpitations among fantasy managers. His season ERA of 4.05 and WHIP of 1.16, coupled with a high strikeout rate of 12.5 K/9, continue to make him a valuable, albeit sometimes volatile, asset in fantasy leagues. The high number of blown saves (5) this season does raise concerns, but his ability to strike out batters at an impressive clip keeps him relevant in all formats. Diaz's performance in high-pressure situations remains a watchpoint, but his role as the Mets' closer should keep him rostered in most leagues.
