MacKenzie Gore struggles, Nats still triumph over Cards

by Chris Schommer | Nationals Correspondent | Sun, Jul 7th 7:04am EDT

MacKenzie Gore had a rough outing, allowing five earned runs on six hits and five walks while striking out five over just 3 1/3 innings in Saturday's win against the Cardinals.

Fantasy Impact:

Despite the Nationals pulling off a 14-6 victory, Gore's performance was less than stellar, raising concerns about his consistency. His season ERA has now climbed to 3.83, and his WHIP to 1.44, which are troubling indicators for fantasy managers relying on him. While his high strikeout rate (10.7 K/9) remains a redeeming feature, the elevated BABIP (.374) suggests he's been somewhat unlucky this season. Fantasy managers should monitor his next few starts closely, as they could dictate his role and reliability during the crucial late-season stretch.
