George Kirby solid on mound, falls victim to lack of run support Tuesday

by Chris Schommer | Mariners Correspondent | Fri, Jul 5th 8:58am EDT

George Kirby turned in another solid performance on the mound, but would be the victim of no offensive support in the Mariners' 2-0 shutout loss to the Orioles Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Kirby allowed just two earned runs on seven hits while walking just one and striking out five over 6 1/3 innings. The right-hander continues a strong stretch on the mound for the Mariners of late, allowing two runs or less in each of his last six starts (3-1) on the mound for the club. Fantasy managers should expect Kirby continue to offer a steady starting option, while also hoping the lackluster Seattle offense can provide more consistent offensive support as the season continues. Kirby posts a 0.98 WHIP and 3.32 ERA while also carrying a 10.10 K/BB ratio through 18 starts (7-6) on the mound so far this season.
