Elehuris Montero contributes in Rockies' rout of Pirates
by Chris Schommer | Sun, Jun 16th 9:14am EDT
Elehuris Montero went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the Rockies' dominant 16-4 victory over the Pirates.
Fantasy Impact:
Montero also walked once, scored twice, and struck out twice. Despite the solid performance in this game, Montero's season has been underwhelming with a batting average just over the Mendoza Line at .201 and a modest .248 wOBA. His power numbers are low, with only three homers and nine doubles over 60 games. Fantasy managers should view Montero as a depth option at best, given his inconsistent production and high strikeout rate. His performance in blowout wins like this one does little to boost his fantasy value unless he can find more consistency at the plate.
