The move was made in order to make room for Sonny Gray who was activated from the injured list to start Tuesday versus the Phillies. The southpaw allowed one earned run in 2 1/3 innings with the Cardinals this season and owns a 3.91 ERA across 109 career big-league outings, all in relief.
