Lars Nootbaar returns to St. Louis for evaluation

Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar (ribs) returned to St. Louis on Monday for evaluation but will return to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday for more at-bats. (John Denton on Twitter)

Nootbaar took batting practice at Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Monday as he looks to regain his timing at the plate. He has been out since March with rib fractures sustained while twisting around for an awkward catch in spring training. He hit .261 with 14 homers and 11 stolen bases across 117 games last season.
