Andrew Chafin agrees to deal with Tigers

Andrew Chafin has agreed to a one-year, $4.25 million contract with the Detroit Tigers according to Evan Petzold. (Evan Petzold on Twitter)

Chafin’s deal includes an additional $1.25 million in incentives for 2024 as well as a 2025 club option worth $6.5 million with an additional $1.25 million worth of incentives. The left-hander split time as a relief option with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Brewers in 2023, posting a 4.73 ERA while also registering eight saves in 63 relief appearances between the two clubs. Chafin will likely slot into a regular middle or late-inning role as part of a Detroit bullpen led by returning closer Alex Lange for manager AJ Hinch this upcoming season.
