A.J. Burnett placed on 15-day DL
by Rick Briggs | Sat, Aug 1st 10:02am EDT
According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, A.J. Burnett has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to elbow inflammation. This not too surprising considering Burnett has struggled since the All-Star break. He has pitched just 16 innings in his last three starts, giving up 18 runs and 32 hits, including seven earned runs and 10 hits in just 4 1/3 innings in his last outing versus Cincinnati. Fantasy Impact:
Since boasting a 2.11 ERA before the All-Star Game, Burnett has seen it swell to 3.06 while dropping his last two decisions. Keep monitoring his progress. If this is merely swelling due to fatigue, the rest could get the 38-year-old Burnett back to form and he could help your fantasy team in the late season run.
