Nelson Velasquez went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Cubs Thursday, blasting a solo home run in a 5-2 win over the Padres.

Velasquez has been reliable at the plate since returning from Triple-A for the Cubs, recording hits in three consecutive games for the club. The 24-year-old will look to try and stick with manager David Ross's club, batting a robust .462 with two home runs, five runs scored, and five runs batted in so far this season.
