Fantasy Impact:
Yamamoto retires after a brief big-league career that saw him pitch to a 6.05 ERA across 96 2/3 innings between the Marlins and Mets organizations. After tossing a solid 4.46 ERA across 15 starts as a rookie in his age-23 season in 2019, Yamamoto struggled with injuries and performance in three seasons since. He split the 2022 season between the High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A levels, most recently pitching to an 8.27 ERA across 16 1/3 innings at Triple-A. The 26-year-old Hawaii native last pitched 6 2/3 innings of 4.05 ERA ball with the Mets in the 2021 campaign.
