New York Mets relieve Bryce Montes de Oca will undergo an MRI on Monday after leaving his Sunday appearance with a right forearm strain. (MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact:
It's certainly ominous news for the hard-throwing Montes de Oca who departed his Sunday outing after walking three straight hitters amidst a drop in velocity. A forearm strain can often precede Tommy John surgery but the Mets will wait to see the results of his MRI to determine the next steps. The 26-year-old got into just three games with the Mets last season but posted a 3.44 ERA with eight saves in 30 appearances at Triple-A. He and the club will anxiously await Monday's test results while he'll certainly be shut down from throwing regardless of the outcome.
