Tsuyoshi Wada exits start with muscle cramping
by Aaron Goldberg | Tue, Jun 23rd 10:22am EDT
Tsuyoshi Wada pitched two innings on Monday before leaving the game due to cramping in his deltoid muscle. He is hopeful to make his next start on Saturday against the Cardinals. Wada gave up a solo home run to Kike Hernandez before exiting, and the Cubs' bullpen gave up only one run in a 4-2 victory. (Chicago Tribune)
Fantasy Impact:
Wada has been very difficult to project in terms of fantasy value. For example, he carries a 3.73 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 31/11 K/BB ratio in 31.1 innings pitched, all fairly impressive stats, but hasn't lasted past the 4th inning in three of his last four starts. The other start in that span was seven innings of shutout baseball against Cleveland. As a result of this uncertainty, Wada remains largely unowned in fantasy leagues. It's hard to recommend him as more than a streaming option, and even then the results are far from guaranteed.
