Chris Sale underwent an open reduction and internal fixation of a left fifth finger proximal phalanx fracture on his left hand on Monday. (Chris Cotillo on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is just a fancy way to say that Sale had surgery on his fractured finger and, specifically, that he had his bone put back in place and a pin inserted. There is no timetable for his return as of yet, but Sale himself floated a 4-to-6 week absence when he spoke about the injury on Sunday. Either way, expect Sale to pitch again this season, but likely not until late-August or September.
