Chris Bassitt hit hard in loss to Padres on Wednesday

by Dan Harris | Blue Jays Correspondent | Thu, Jun 9th 10:56am EDT

Chris Bassitt allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Padres. He struck out six and took the loss, falling to 4-4.

Fantasy Impact:

The Padres were all over Bassitt in this one, scoring in three of the four innings he was in the game. Oddly enough, Bassitt's velocity was up significantly, more than a mile per hour on most of his pitches, though he generated just seven whiffs. The wheels have fallen off a bit for the veteran of late, as he has allowed at least four runs in four of his last five starts, and his ERA and WHIP now stand at 4.35 and 1.24, respectively. His 25.3% strikeout rate remains a career high, however, and fantasy managers can still feel confident about starting him in most matchups despite his recent lull, including in his next outing against the Brewers.
