Tommy Layne earns a save

Tommy Layne entered the ninth inning on Sunday against Oakland to preserve Boston's improbable 7-4 lead. Layne had no issues as he struck out two en route to his first save of the season.
Fantasy Impact:
It was a little surprising to see Layne get the save opportunity Sunday, but he showed that he was more than up for the task. While Uehara was up and warming, manager John Farrell seemed content to keep him out of the game with the amount of work he'd seen in the past week. If Boston continues to play close games, names like Layne and Tazawa might start seeing some additional ninth inning action.
