ESPN's Jeff Passan reports the Detroit Tigers and LHP Eduardo Rodriguez have come to terms on a five-year, $77 million contract. (Jeff Passan on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
The deal includes an opt out after the second year. Rodriguez was frustrating at times in 2021, registering a 4.74 ERA with the Red Sox. However, a closer look under the hood reveals a 3.50 xERA and 3.43 xFIP. It stands to reason that Rodriguez was likely hurt by Boston's historically bad defense at times. Now he joins an up-and-coming Tigers team who played well in the second half of 2021. Rodriguez will likely be valued as a solid mid-rotation arm in 2022 fantasy leagues.
