Daniel Ponce de Leon picks up second straight save with Reyes unavailable
by Lucas Spence | Sat, May 29th 10:21am EDT
Daniel Ponce de Leon surprisingly picked up his second save in as many days on Friday night, pitching 1 1/3 innings while giving up two hits and a run and also hitting a batter. He struck out two as well.
Fantasy Impact:
With closer Alex Reyes having pitched each of the prior two days, he was unavailable out of the bullpen on Friday night, so Ponce de Leon was once again called upon to close the door for St. Louis. He made things interesting, loading the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning and allowing a run to score but ultimately got the job done. Look for Reyes to get the next save opportunity for the Cardinals, as Ponce de Leon (6.75 ERA) can continue to be ignored in fantasy leagues.
