Riley Smith loses to the Mets on Sunday

by Jon Mathisen | Mon, May 10th 12:35am EDT

RHP Riley Smith took the loss on Sunday when he allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout over four innings as the D-Backs lost to the Mets 4-2.

Fantasy Impact:

Smith did a decent job holding down the Mets offense on Sunday, limiting them to just two runs, both of which came in the third inning off an RBI single and groundout. Jacob deGrom shut down the Arizona offense on the other side so Smith was saddled with the defeat. The 26-year-old righty now owns a 4.85 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 26 innings. He doesn't miss a ton of bats--he only has 12 strikeouts on the year--so it's hard to trust him for fantasy purposes. He'll face the Nats at home on Friday in his next turn.
