Eric Hosmer goes 2-3 with RBI on Friday

Fantasy Impact:

Hosmer didn't hit any of the balls he put in play on Friday particularly hard, but he was able to reach base three times with his two singles and a fielding error. Hosmer has continued to be one of the most valuable contributors in the Padres lineup so far this year, slashing .310/.375/.450 in 2021. Hosmer's numbers have been helped by a much improved walk rate -- his highest since 2018 -- and an elite strikeout rate. There is some signal that Hosmer's current fantasy production is unsustainable, as Hosmer's chase rate suggests there could be some regression coming in his strikeout rate, which would likely cause a drop in his batting average. That being said, there is no reason to believe that, with the increased walk rate, Hosmer couldn't post his best season to date in a Padres uniform.
