Free-agent OF Yasiel Puig signed with Veracruz of the Mexican League on Tuesday. (Enrique Rojas on Twitter )
Fantasy Impact:
Puig was unable to land a deal with a major-league club during the offseason and ultimately ends up signing a deal to play in the Mexican League. He was close to signing with Atlanta in 2020 until Puig testing positive for COVID-19 scrapped those plans. The 30-year-old will play in Mexico in 2021 and could find his way back in the majors down the road. Puig slashed .267/.327/.458 across 611 plate appearances for the Reds/Indians in 2019.
