Ljay Newsome sharp over 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday
by Jon Mathisen | Wed, Sep 23rd 1:05am EDT
Ljay Newsome took a no-decision on Tuesday when he allowed one run on four hits with a strikeout and no walks over 4 1/3 innings in the Mariners 6-1 loss to the Astros.
Fantasy Impact:
This was a solid bounce back performance for the rookie, who coughed up five earned runs in his last start against the Giants. The only run the Astros managed off of him came in the first inning via a Kyle Tucker RBI single. He kept Houston off balance otherwise and was pulled before having to face their lineup for a third time. The 23-year old now owns a 5.17 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 9:1 K/BB ratio over 15 2/3 innings (five appearances, four starts). He has a shot to start against the A's this coming weekend.
