Yoshihisa Hirano works around a HR to notch first save of season
by Jon Mathisen | Sun, Sep 6th 8:34pm EDT
Yoshihisa Hirano gave up a solo home run but struck out the remaining three batters he faced to secure his first save of the season in the Mariners 4-3 win over the Rangers on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact:
Hirano entered the game in the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead and struck out Jose Trevino before giving up a home run to Ronald Guzman. He was able to settle down and proceeded to whiff Derek Dietrich and Anderson Tejada in consecutive at-bats to close out the game. Yohan Ramirez still figures to be the preferred closer in Seattle going forward with Hirano mainly working as the set-up ma; Ramirez is the recommended fantasy option of the two. Hirano now owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, and a 6:4 K/BB ratio over six innings.
