Span was unable to reach a deal after the Mariners declined his $12 million option after the 2018 season and has officially retired from baseball. Span slashed .281/.347/.398 with 71 homers, 490 RBI, 773 runs and 185 stolen bases across 1,359 games in his career. The 36-year-old spent 11 seasons in the majors with the Twins, Nationals, Rays, Giants and the Mariners.
