Nationals first baseman/outfielder Eric Thames is dealing with a tight left calf but should be able to appear in some games this weekend, according to manager Dave Martinez. (Sam Fortier on Twitter)

Eric Thames is probably going to play this weekend, Dave Martinez said. He hasn't been in a game yet because of a tight left calf. He's been doing everything at the facility -- fielding grounders, taking BP -- but Davey is v serious about not pushing it right now. https://t.co/IDeC6UX51Z

Thames has displayed his power over the last few seasons but has had troubles with both injuries and consistency. He will have a chance to carve out a roll with the Nationals as a left-handed bat against right-handed pitching this year.
