Jon Heyman reports that Sandoval will receive close to $100 million over 5 years. The Red Sox beat out the Giants and Padres, who reportedly also made an aggressive push for the free agent 3rd basemen. The official announcement of the deal is pending a physical. (CBS Sports)
Fantasy Impact:
The move figures to be a good one for Sandoval's fantasy value. He lands on a team that is pouring money into revamping its offense (and pitching, for that matter). Sandoval will now get to play in a top 5 hitter friendly ball park, according to ESPN's 2014 Park Factors analysis. It's a welcome sign after slugging in the notoriously pitcher-friendly AT&T Park with the Giants. Sandoval is expected to primarily play third base in Boston with a small mix of appearances at DH.
