Jim Johnson struggles in relief appearance, Angels lose
by Waleed Hawatky | Fri, May 18th 12:44pm EDT
Jim Johnson struggled through 1/3 of an inning, giving up four runs - three earned - on four hits including a home run as the Angels fell to the Rays, 7-1.
Fantasy Impact:
Johnson came into a low scoring tightly pitched game and served up runs almost immediately, surrendering a lead-off single and a two run homer to Denard Span a batter later. He then promptly allowed an infield single to C.J. Cron who then stole second and came around to score on a Daniel Robertson single before exiting the game. Robertson would eventually come around to score to put the Halos in a 5-0 deficit halfway through the seventh. Johnson and his 4.30 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and ugly .284 BAA is rather uninspiring in the post-Middleton era but figures to still be involved as manager Mike Sioscia is committed to a committee.
