R.A. Dickey solid in win Thursday night
by Steve Painter | Fri, Sep 22nd 12:08am EDT
R.A. Dickey took advantage of a warm and humid evening in Atlanta and produced a solid, eight-inning effort in the Braves' 3-2 victory over the Nationals. He allowed four hits, two runs (both earned), and no walks while recording four strikeouts. With the win, his record improves to 10-10. Dickey joins an elite club comprised of Max Scherzer, Chris Sale, Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Gio Gonzalez, all of whom have won at least 10 games in each of the last six seasons. He will pitch again Tuesday against Chris Flexen and the Mets in New York.
Fantasy Impact:
Dickey was a little emotional after pitching his final home game of 2017, and perhaps of his career. The Braves hold an option on him for next year but there is no guarantee he will even pitch, choosing to retire instead.
