Miguel Montero has been traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later or cash considerations, according to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com. Montero had been designated for assignment by the Cubs last week after making critical comments toward pitcher Jake Arrieta. (MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Montero was having a solid season for a catcher offensively, but it is unclear what his playing time will look like in Toronto with Russell Martin ahead of him on the depth chart. He is not worth adding right now, but he can be added to scout teams in deeper two-catcher leagues in case he starts to pick up consistent playing time with the Blue Jays.
