Ryan Schimpf plated by Hunter Renfroe grand slam on Memorial Day

by Joshua Wattay | Tue, May 30th 8:25am EDT

Ryan Schimpf went 1-for-3 at the plate with a base-hit, one run, and striking out once during Monday's 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Fantasy Impact:

Schimpf has never had any issues hitting home-runs, with 13 through 150 at-bats in 2017 thus far. He does, however, have consistency issues when it comes to getting on base. With that being said it is nice to see, as slight of a bump as it may be, an improvement in Schimpf's batting-average and slugging-percentage when comparing April and May. The 160th overall pick in 2009 from Louisiana State currently holds a .167 batting-average with a .295 on-base-percentage and a .474 slugging-percentage on the current season. Schimpf is a hit or miss fantasy option, no pun intended, but if he goes without a home-run then you cannot realistically expect a big hitting performance from him on a consistent basis. The basis behind that statement being that Schimpf has only posted three mulitple-hit-games in 2017.
