PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: Valero Texas Open (2025)

PGA DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: Valero Texas Open (2025)

150 golfers are set to tee off from the 2025 Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course) this week. With The Masters marking the first major of the 2025 season next week, the field at the Valero Texas Open could provide us with a lot of entertainment value and profit with PGA DFS lineups.

My Texas Children’s Houston Open DFS Primer didn’t have much success at Memorial Park this past weekend. Alex Smalley missed the cut, while Rickie Fowler (T52), Thomas Detry (T47), and Kurt Kitayama (T39) failed to record a top 30 finish. Golfers who returned profit on investment based on their salaries include winner, Min Woo Lee, Gary Woodland (T2), Sami Valimaki (4th), and Alejandro Tosti (T5).

            Course Overview

TPC San Antonio is a par 72 that runs over 7,400 yards. Fairways vary from wide to narrow, keeping golfers on their toes when taking the tee box. Minimal elevation is present but the threat of winds is one of the primary hazards here.

Rough is ryegrass, standing two inches, with Texas native grasses up to six inches. Greens are Bermudagrass and overseeded with Poa, meaning putting velocity is measured at 11.5 feet via Stimpmeter. Greens aren’t smaller or bigger than average, while sprawling sand bunkers flank most of the holes at TPC San Antonio.

Two of four par 3s exceed 200 yards, while three of four par 5s are 591 yards or longer. Five par 4s are under 410 yards, creating plenty of opportunities for birdies this week. Designed by Pete Dye and Greg Norman, established in 2009.

            Recommended Plays: DraftKings

DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000

            Sam Stevens: $8,000

Sam Stevens has performed well at TPC San Antonio in both previous appearances. He’s logged a runner-up and a T18, while coming off of a T18 finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open on Sunday.

At $8K on DraftKings, this is decent value to grab on a consistent performer like Stevens. He’s averaging 75.3 FPPG this season, so go ahead and plug Stevens into lineups in San Antonio this week.

            Mac Meissner: $7,100

Mac Meissner is available at a low $7.1K salary this week after back-to-back finishes inside the top 40. Meissner started this season red-hot and slumped for a bit. Now, he appears to be turning the corner.

Meissner has 12-16 birdies in three straight events entering Valero. He also cleaned up his bogeys at the Houston Open last week, recording seven and a double, along with 16 birdies. Let’s grab Meissner as a lineup booster, banking for a top-30 finish or better.

FanDuel maximum salary is set at $60,000

            Victor Perez: $8,700

One of the best value prospects at Valero has to be Victor Perez. The Frenchman has three straight finishes T22 or better, including a pair of T18s, with one of these coming at Memorial Park during the Houston Open on Sunday.

Perez is available at $8.7K on FanDuel and has generated 85 or more fantasy points in two of the past three weeks. He’s playing consistently well and is a great value based on his production on the links right now.

            Isaiah Salinda: $8,600

Another cheap value add into FanDuel lineups is Isaiah Salinda. Salinda finished just outside the top-1o at the Houston Open, going -3-under-par or lower in three of four rounds.

He bounced back from a string of mediocre to poor finishes with a T11 on Sunday, recording 92.1 fantasy points. Salinda is young and full of talent, ranked 40th in birdies (126) made and tends to start strong, ranking 23rd in the 1st round and 44th in the second round.

Grab Salinda at a discount and bank on him to deliver another top-20 finish at TPC San Antonio this week.
