Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 21)

Trade For

Quentin Grimes (SG, SF – PHI)

With Quentin Grimes’ appearance here, please make an excuse for last week’s “Trade Away: Players on Tanking Teams” portion. Grimes is certainly a worthy exception.

In seven games played over the last two weeks, Grimes is averaging more fantasy points than Anthony Edwards, Devin Booker and Zion Williamson. With averages of 28.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists. it’s easy to see why.

For all the tanking the Sixers have been doing lately, Grimes has missed just one game since the start of March — in which he’s averaged 35.1 minutes per game. Grimes being rostered in 63% of Yahoo! leagues and 59.7% of ESPN leagues is absurd.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Shaedon Sharpe (G – POR), Cameron Johnson (F – BKN), Chris Paul (G – SAS)

Trade Away

Alex Sarr (C, PF – WSH)

Alex Sarr has easily been the best Wizard over the last month. The rookie big man leads his squad in fantasy points and points and he’s second in rebounds and blocks over the last 30 days.

The problem? Sarr is fourth in minutes at just 26 per night. That figure is similar to the season averages of Guerschon Yabusele, Corey Kispert and Spencer Dinwiddie. Good ol’ tanking.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Deni Avdija (F – POR), Amen Thompson (G, F – HOU)

Trade For

Amen Thompson (PF, SF, SG – HOU)

Amen Thompson is probable for Friday night’s game against Miami. It’s full steam ahead for one of those aforementioned breakout stars.

One of the best examples of a high-floor, high-ceiling player, Thompson may be obtainable in your league, as he’s missed the last six games with an ankle sprain.

With just 12 games to play, Houston is likely looking to get Thompson ready to go for the playoffs.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Devin Vassell (G – SA), Jalen Duren (C – DET)

Trade Away

Jalen Duren (DET – C)

Jalen Duren has enjoyed a solid year on the underrated Pistons, but he’s headed for a miserable stretch of opponents to close it out.

Duren is set to face Jarrett Allen, Rudy Gobert, Chet Holmgren, Jaren Jackson Jr., Evan Mobley, Mitchell Robinson and Giannis Antetokounmpo twice throughout Detroit’s final 12 games. As positional fantasy matchups are concerned, this is running the gauntlet.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Jarrett Allen (C – CLE), OG Anunoby (F – NYK)
