Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 20)

Trade For

Karl-Anthony Towns (PF, C – NYK)

Jalen Brunson‘s nasty ankle injury he suffered last Thursday has left a massive production void for the rest of the Knicks starters to fill.

Karl-Anthony Towns has been a seamless fit in New York’s offense this season as he’s enjoying one of the best statistical campaigns of his career. Towns is 18th in the NBA in scoring, second in rebounding and 10th in fantasy points per game on Yahoo! (47.19).

For those looking for a big-man upgrade on their fantasy squad, Towns is somewhat of a buy-low. He hasn’t met his 47.19 average since February 20th despite playing 35.4 minutes per game since that date.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Devin Booker (G – PHX)

Trade Away

Jonas Valanciunas (C – SAS)

Sacramento’s acquisition of Jonas Valanciunas flew under the radar but it came at the perfect time because of a hamstring injury Domantas Sabonis suffered just weeks after the deal.

Valanciunas saw even less run in Sacramento than he had with Washington soon after the trade, but he’s been more than fantasy-viable since Sabonis was sidelined.

Sabonis was questionable for Thursday night’s game in San Francisco but wasn’t able to go. Valanciunas played poorly and saw just 14 minutes and was a -17, marking his worst game since taking over the starting role.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Naji Marshall (F – DAL)

Trade For

Austin Reaves (PG, SG, SF – LAL)

Somewhat lost in the Lakers’ hectic 2025 has been the ascension of Austin Reaves. Since the start of the new year, the combo guard has averaged 19.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

A calf injury two weeks ago has slowed Reaves’ pace, but he’s averaged 35.5 minutes in four games since his return. With LeBron James out of the lineup, Reaves is comfortably the Lakers’ second option.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Jordan Poole (G – WAS), RJ Barrett (F – TOR)

Trade Away

Players on Tanking Teams

If the recent $100,000 fine handed to the Jazz or De’Aaron Fox‘s impending pinky procedure weren’t telling signs, the basement dwellers of the NBA are really gunning for the bottom.

As it stands, the worst teams are Brooklyn, Charlotte, New Orleans, Portland, Philadelphia, Toronto, Utah, Washington and San Antonio. It’s sometimes difficult to tell whether or not Charlotte, New Orleans, Portland and Washington are blatantly tanking because of their seemingly normal rotations. The others aren’t making it a secret. San Antonio could have registered as a sneakily-tanking team but Fox’s upcoming surgery seals the deal.

Regardless of where these teams morally align, the fantasy-relevant players on them aren’t trustworthy going forward. Players like LaMelo Ball, RJ Barrett, John Collins, Cameron Johnson, Walker Kessler, Tyrese Maxey and Jakob Poeltl should be shopped.
