Welcome to Week 23. Congratulations on making it to the “Last Mile.” While some of you are playing for the crown and others are playing to reclaim your sane version of your sanity, know we should be proud of making it to the “Last Mile.”

Life and Fantasy 

Coming into this season, I was hopeful we would be able to accomplish something special. It is my second year having the privilege of authoring this article in support and collaboration with the FantasyPros team. I was hopeful I would not only help contribute to something we could be proud of but also demonstrate to the team and community — who have given me a chance — that I had grown and made good on the opportunity to contribute to this “art” we love.

Bold Goals… a Successful “Three-Peat”

Setting bold goals and commitment, making life changes in response to life as I prepare for the exciting things on the horizon personally and professionally, and not just me but my family — for example, we are going for a successful “Three-Peat” this year with the arrival of my family’s third child in August.

Mr. Mahomes, we will tell you how it feels — E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES — but also, all love and respect to you, a soon-to-be proud member of the GOAT Club and possible catalyst for Tom Brady coming out of retirement by the end of what seems to be one of the best-issued contracts of all time.

Anyways…

This season, I set out to prove I could meet my good intentions by stating, executing and producing intent, action and results that went exactly as I said they would.

A Hero’s Journey Embraced

However, like many of us with the best intentions going into this year for fantasy and life, it didn’t quite go as we thought. Like many of our weekly discoveries and ultimately a significant motif that embraced and honored elements of one’s Hero’s Journey.

The reward of the unknown, the character growth achieved from perseverance, the power gained from trusting oneself and the courage embraced from taking the journey

Evolved this season into one of historical shifts for the sport, the industry and game of fantasy and the industry and game of our lives giving us the chance to choose to accomplish more.

Great, not so Great… Expected, not so Expected

Some were great, some not so great, some expected, some not expected. In the end, like much of what I am feeling and thinking now, I am just thankful for how we experienced this thing. I now see that life, just like sports — albeit we can’t see at times — prepares us for opportunities we did not know were possible, desired or expected.

As long as we came in with 100% effort and intention, whether that be 100% of the total 15% we had to give as we managed life, our dreams, our fears, and excitement, we knew and eventually had to trust that as long as we made it to the end, we would find something exciting.

A Missed Mark Hit

I didn’t quite hit the mark I was looking for this season, but what I did hit is something I hope we will all be able to enjoy as early as the conclusion of this Health-Demic season.

Much like my life now and my journey since having the chance to join this community, I look back and am happy with how I embraced the ride and how members of the community continued to show up as professionals dedicated to excellence while doing and exceeding what it meant to treat each other as human beings when life arose.

Because of this, I was able to stand strong not only this season but also in life, coming into each week with new lessons I eventually intended to bring full circle as a tool to encourage and cheer you all on as you faced and accomplished similar feats and as we strove to become better fantasy fans and people.

The Beginning of the “End”

So, this is it. We are in it now, and the ending of the endgame is here. In the end, who will you powerfully declare to be in response to the Health-Demic after your stand in the inevitability of your triumph and before you save the universe as the one out of the 14,000,605?

Ultimately, whether you are standing after your “Beautiful Death” or falling valiantly in the face of a good dance, be happy and congratulations on making it to the “Last Mile.”

…At the Same Time As We Stand Together “Hold Me”

At the same time, this is what my last mile looked like heading into this weekend: “Hold me.” And an X post. I was so bent, I posted this on Facebook and LinkedIn.
