7 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers to Draft for Stolen Bases (2025)

As drafts get into the final rounds, everyone starts looking for sleepers. You won’t find many four- or five-category players. You’ll be lucky to see three-category players. Instead of looking for a player who will help in multiple categories, it may be better to look for a player to help in a primary statistical category. Steals is a category that can be found late in drafts when studying average draft position (ADP).

A handful of sleepers available late can provide 20+ stolen bases, which you can’t say for home runs, batting average or other categories. Let’s look at seven players you can target late in drafts when you need stolen bases.

Fantasy Baseball Sleepers to Draft for Stolen Bases

Jake McCarthy (OF – ARI)

Last season was Jake McCarthy’s first full season in the bigs. He played 142 games after playing 99 in each of the previous two seasons. McCarthy stole 25 bases last season, his third season of 23+ steals. McCarthy is out of a full-time platoon and could be in for another 25+ stolen bases, with the chance to steal over 30.

Victor Robles (OF – SEA)

We have always known Victor Robles can run wild, but health has been a significant deterrent to his overall success. Last season, Robles stole 34 bases over 99 games. Robles joined the Mariners in June and stole 30 bases, 13 in September alone.

Robles took over leadoff duties as the season went on with the Mariners, showcasing a .328 batting average and .393 on-base percentage (OBP). Robles likely won’t continue that success at the plate, but leading off with even mediocre success should lead to 30+ steals from Robles.

Jacob Young (OF – WSH)

When looking at late steals, we usually circle around “rabbits.” Jacob Young is the prototypical rabbit. He’ll hit for a decent batting average, no power and run wild. Young stole 33 bases over 150 games with the Nats last season after stealing 52 bases between Triple-A and the Nats in 2023.

Young runs wild and even though he hits at the bottom of the lineup, he should be in store for 30 more steals this season. Just remember, he does not bring much else regarding roto stats.

Bryson Stott (2B – PHI)

Bryson Stott saw his batting average drop last season while he platooned at times at second base for the Phillies. Even with the decline in production, Stott still stole 32 bases. That was Stott’s second straight season with 30+ steals.

Stott should be back as the regular second baseman for the Phillies, playing at least 140 games. He should be locked into 25 steals with a realistic chance of stealing 30+ bases for the third consecutive season.

Maikel Garcia (2B, 3B – KC)

Expectations were through the roof for Maikel Garcia last season and overall it was a disappointment. His batting average and power were low, but there was one thing Garcia continued to do well — steal bases.

Over 157 games, Garcia stole 37 bases. He stole 23 in 2023. Garcia should again play daily at third base for the Royals, leading to plenty of stolen base chances. Garica should be in line for 25+ steals with a realistic chance at 30+ steals.

Zack Gelof (2B – OAK)

Zack Gelof is a polarizing fantasy target. His batting average is a crusher as he hit .211 last season. The power is solid, as Gelof hit 17 home runs last season and 26 between AAA and the A’s in 2023.

Stolen bases are where Gelof shines. Last season, Gelof stole 25 bases after stealing 34 between AAA and the A’s in 2023. The batting average may fluctuate, but the power is very adequate, while the stolen base prowess is great, with 25+ steal appeal.

Garrett Mitchell (OF – MIL)

Garrett Mitchell is one of my top, late-round outfield targets. He had high expectations entering 2024 but a broken hand at the end of spring training derailed that. Mitchell ended up playing 69 games with the Brewers last season and stole 11 bases.

Mitchell is healthy entering 2025 and is expected to be the starting center fielder while hitting in the middle of the Brewers’ lineup. Mitchell should be in store for 20 steals easily with the upside of 30. Mitchell is one of the rare 20/20 targets late in drafts.
