2025 NFL Draft Burning Questions
Will There be Three First-Round Quarterbacks?
Cam Ward is the only quarterback guaranteed to be a first-round pick. Furthermore, many around the league believe the former Miami star will be the first overall selection in the NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart are potential Day 1 picks. However, several teams filled their need at quarterback.
The Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and Seattle Seahawks each added a big-name quarterback this offseason. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are still free agents. However, the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers lack a Week 1 starter, which could lead to three quarterbacks getting drafted in the first round.
Could a Second Running Back Get Drafted in the First Round?
Everyone expects Ashton Jeanty to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, potentially coming off the board as early as sixth overall to the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile, the rest of the running back class lacks an elite prospect like the former Boise State star. Yet, the draft class has several appealing options.
However, could a second running back get drafted in the first round? Omarion Hampton has appeared in the first round of multiple big-name mock drafts over the past week. The Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos have been linked to Hampton. Don’t be surprised if the former North Carolina star is a Day 1 pick.
Has Luther Burden III Fallen Out of the First-Round Mix?
Surprisingly, several big-name wide receivers are still on the market after the first week of free agency. Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen, and Amari Cooper are still looking for new homes. The veteran market could play a significant role in how many and which wide receivers get selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Many mock drafts had Burden as the second wide receiver off the board back in January. Unfortunately, the former Missouri star’s stock has slipped over the past several weeks. Multiple big-name experts have left Burden out of the first round of their latest mock drafts. He might have to wait until Day 2 to hear his name called.
How Many Edge Rushers Will be Day 1 Picks?
This year’s draft class is loaded with talented edge rushers. Abdul Carter will be a top-four pick and potentially the first non-quarterback selected. However, he isn’t the only edge rusher with superstar upside. Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams are first-round locks, possibly coming off the board in the top 10.
Meanwhile, Shemar Stewart has excellent raw tools and massive upside, while James Pearce Jr. and Mike Green have proven production. All three are Day 1 picks, while Nic Scourton, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Landon Jackson are borderline first-round selections. We could see as many as nine edge rushers drafted on Thursday night.
