2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne (RB – Georgia)
5-foot-9 | 205 Pounds
Background
Trevor Etienne’s brother is Jaguars running back Travis Etienne.
Trevor Etienne was a four-star recruit who originally attended Florida. He served as the second back behind Montrell Johnson there, finishing with a 118-719-6 (6.1) line as a freshman. Split carries a bit more evenly and totaled 130-756-8 (5.8) the following year, with 21-172-1 receiving.
Transferred to Georgia for the 2024 season, splitting carries with Nate Frazier and finishing with 122-603-9 (4.9) on the year, along with 32-194-0 receiving.
Positives
Three-year contributor for two zone-heavy SEC programs, with pro bloodlines. Jitterbug type with some of the quickest feet in the class. Shows nice vision and footwork to locate and hit holes between the tackles, with a solid burst through the gap. Consistently wins the corner on outside concepts, with a nice jump-cut to get outside; also does a nice job of setting up blocks. Shows a nice curvy running style with a nice balance to bend back into cutback lanes.
Etienne has the shake to make defenders miss in a phone booth. Good knee bend and naturally low center of gravity allow him to break more tackles than his size would suggest; shows impressive contact balance to absorb glancing blows. Does a nice job of lowering his pad level/shoulder into contact to finish runs. Puts some window-dressing on his stems as a receiver and can create separation for timing-based throws on angle routes, etc. against man coverage.
Offers a reliable pair of hands, with just one career drop. The type of player you’d like to get the ball on dump-offs, swings and screens, as he has wiggle and elusiveness in space to create after the catch. Actively scans the field in pass protection.
Negatives
Never managed to establish himself as a bell-cow back. Efficiency dipped in each season; was typically Georgia’s starter this year, but finished second in carries. Smaller than many of the other backs in the class. Has plenty of short-area quickness, but might be more of a chunk runner at the next level, as he can get caught from behind in space.
Etienne gets physical at the end of runs but isn’t one of the most powerful backs. Probably won’t run over many pro defenders. Doesn’t consistently run through arm tackles or push the pile. Ball security is closer to adequate, with four career fumbles against 370 rushing attempts (including two this past season.) Was used as a pure safety valve in school, with an average depth of target (aDOT) behind the line of scrimmage. Etienne’s experience in blitz pickup was relatively limited and can be overwhelmed on contact by bigger defenders.
Summary
A smaller back with an impressive combination of feel, vision, quickness and elusiveness. Also has natural receiving skills out of the backfield. While he lacks ideal size and power and might never be the most effective blocker, Etienne should be able to provide a nice change of pace in a team’s running back rotation, fitting best in a system based around zone/one-cut concepts. Looks like a mid-to-late-round pick.

Jeanty proved he’s the total package this past season, with an unbelievable combination of vision, patience, creativity, agility, power, balance and speed that nearly allowed him to break Barry Sanders’ single-season rushing record.
Can fit in any offensive scheme, but might be best in a scheme that runs a relatively high amount of outside zone to maximize his home-run hitting ability. After a year in which he dazzled viewers with a nonstop succession of dominant highlights, Jeanty should be a lock for the first round, potentially going in the top half of the frame. Projects as a long-term, every-down feature back who should make an immediate impact.

Skattebo was one of the most productive and exciting players in college football this past season. He combined a natural feel for the position, smooth running skills, a tough and physical temperament and exceptional contact balance, culminating in well over 2,000 total yards on the season.
There’s not a whole lot to critique about his game, besides his lack of ideal explosiveness and long speed. Otherwise, Skattebo has the look of a potential every-down back in the league or at least the power back in a one-two punch. Could get some second-day looks.

A fast, agile back with good burst and excellent open-field running skills, Neal functioned as a workhorse for the Jayhawks but might be more of a change-of-pace back at the next level, as he may struggle to grind out tough yardage between the tackles as a pro.
Neal’s snaps were relatively balanced throughout his career (more gap until this past season, then a little bit more zone), but might be better suited to a zone-blocking scheme where he’s able to stretch defenses out and cut upfield when he sees daylight. Probably more of a mid-round option.
Projection: Round 5
