2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Omarr Norman-Lott

Omarr Norman-Lott (DL – Tennessee)

6-foot-3 | 307 Pounds

Background

Omarr Norman-Lott was a three-star recruit who originally attended Arizona St. He recorded just one tackle in 2020 — 38 snaps, per Pro Football Focus (PFF) — and then rotated in for 301 snaps the following year, finishing with 30-4.0-2.0. Has been essentially a rotational pass-rusher for the past three seasons. Totaled 14-3.0-2.0 in 2022, then transferred to Tennessee, where he posted 26-6.0-5.5 and 18-4.0-4.0 over the past two seasons.

Positives

A well-built interior defensive lineman who was asked to line up at some different techniques in school, Norman-Lott played anywhere from the zero-technique to the five-tech. Plays with a very high level of intensity, where his rotational role doubtless helps; consistently works through the whistle. Functional strength is very good and allows him to reset the line of scrimmage with power or anchor at the line in the run game, even against double-teams.

Has some heaviness to his hands to discard blockers. On a snap-to-snap basis, has had impressive productivity over the past two seasons with 9.5 sacks and 43 combined sacks/hits/pressures on 289 rush snaps, per PFF. Primarily a pass-rush specialist, where he shows very good explosion and suddenness out of his stance to threaten gaps; capable of knifing through gaps to create immediate penetration.

Active with his feet and can grind down opposing linemen with his bull rush when he commits to it. He has some ability to set up his moves and does a nice job of mixing up his approach. Actively seeks out additional lanes to the passer with the lateral quickness to work his way into the clear. Should be effective on stunts and twists. Has more flexibility in his hips than usual for a player with his size.

Negatives

Spent five years in school between two programs and never established himself as a full-time starter. Inconsistent ability to locate in the run game. Has had some issues with missed tackles when playing the run, something he wasn’t asked to do very often. Slightly tall for an interior lineman.

Norman-Lott’s pad level can be higher than you’d like. His rush approach could undermine the team’s run fits or create opportunities for quarterbacks to pick up first downs by taking advantage of gaps in the defensive front. As a pass-rusher, some issues with balance crop up, as he can operate on the fine line between intensity and lack of control. His repertoire of counters still looks like a work in progress.

Summary

A very interesting prospect who offers a tantalizing combination of size, strength, explosiveness and intensity — all traits that could allow him to develop into a starting lineman at the next level. However, unlike most prospects we’d be talking about this high in the draft, Norman-Lott never worked his way into a starting role over five seasons of college ball.

Nonetheless, it looks like he should have some immediate value on passing downs as a disruptive force. He has the tools to develop into a high-end run defender by improving his gap discipline, ability to locate the runner, pad level and tackling. His talent, combined with the premium the league currently places on interior linemen, should get him second-day consideration.

Projection: Round 3
