2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery (OT – Minnesota)
6-foot-6 | 330 Pounds
Background
Aireontae Ersery was a three-star recruit who appeared in two games between 2020 and 2021, then took over as the team’s starting left tackle in 2022. Has been there for the past three seasons. Per Pro Football Focus (PFF), Ersery allowed two sacks in each of his first two seasons there and just one this past season.
Positives
Massive three-year starter at left tackle who plays with impressive polish and consistency. Has excellent functional strength, with thudding power. His contact balance in the run game is excellent. Worked from a three-point stance more often than many of the other top tackles in the class; fires out low with pop in his hands to jolt defenders on contact. Has a powerful shove to create push.
Seals defenders inside easily when blocking down on the outside shoulder. Ersery’s sheer mass alone is enough to disrupt defenders and is capable of getting in the way of additional defenders while engaged. Looks so stable absorbing power when working against bull-rushers; drops an early anchor to stonewall opponents at the line.
Able to replicate his technique in pass sets well, with a stable base, adequate knee-bend and a straight back. Active with his punch, showing good accuracy and the ability to reset through the snap. Does a nice job of playing within his frame. Shows controlled lateral movement in his kick slide. Ersery’s frame is so big he’s able to protect the edge against speed more effectively than usual for a player with his size.
Negatives
Ersery has been in school for five years, so he’s older than some of the other tackles in the class. A bit on the stiff side, especially in the lower body. Works hard to get up to the second level and engage, but doesn’t quite have the short-area quickness to successfully engage consistently.
Ersery sometimes struggled to pivot back inside when he had the depth to protect the edge from speed. Lacks in-game experience at other positions along the line. May be considered by some teams as a candidate to flip over to the right side or potentially slide inside.
Summary
A massive three-year starter who has some of the most impressive stability and technical consistency you’ll see from an offensive line prospect; uses his frame to easily overpower opponents in the run game and to stonewall bull-rushers on passive downs.
While Ersery’s not an elite athlete, his discipline, technique and high football IQ have allowed him to work on an island against opposing EDGE rushers. Should be one of the first linemen off the board and could conceivably stick at left tackle. Can play almost any other spot on the line as needed. Looks like an early starter in a power-based offensive scheme.
Projection: Round 1
