Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/8)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (G – OKC): 24.5 points (alt line)
Shai getting a 1.12x multiplier for his 24.5 alt line accentuates just how explosive the MVP candidate has been as a scorer this season. SGA is averaging an outstanding 31.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game on the season and has drained 25 or more points in 23 of his last 25 games. He faces off against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, so he should have absolutely zero issue in getting all the way up for a matchup against one of the East’s best. Slap the More on SGA for Wednesday night at Sleeper Picks.
Pick: More
Donovan Mitchell (G – CLE): 3.5 assists (alt line)
Donovan has stepped up his game as a distributor since the month of April, hitting four or more assists in each of his last 14 games. The full line has dropped back to 4.5, but Mitchell has failed to hit five assists in three of his last four contests. Donovan is expected to be more locked in as a scorer with the Thunder being an opponent but is fully aware that getting his teammates like Evan Mobley involved early will be critical to any aspirations they have to escape with the win. Dap the More on Donovan for Wednesday night basketball.
Pick: More
Karl-Anthony Towns (F/C – NYK): 0.5 double doubles
Towns double double is quickly becoming a ‘run, don’t walk’ line in the vein of Domantas Sabonis or Nikola Jokic double double plays. The main difference here is that Towns is not a triple double threat like Sabonis and Jokic. With that said, Towns has emerged as one of the top two rebounders in the league this season and will likely finish with a higher double double percentage than Jokic when all is said and done. KAT has 30 double doubles in 34 games played and hauled in at least 10 rebounds in both his matchups against the Raptors this year, with 15 rebounds in Toronto and 10 rebounds in New York. Tap the More on Towns for Wednesday night’s NBA action.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
