NHL DFS Lineup Picks & Advice: Tuesday (1/14)

NHL DFS Lineup Picks & Advice: Tuesday (1/14)

There are many different ways to get in on the action for tonight’s 13-game NHL slate, including DFS. Below is the nine-man lineup I’ve locked in for tonight’s schedule. This roster is playable in DraftKings’ classic $50,000 salary format, but I’ve also listed each player’s price for FanDuel’s $55,000 salary equivalent.

Tuesday’s NHL DFS Picks & Advice

The lineup below is based on DraftKings, but FanDuel prices are also listed.

C1: Sidney Crosby (C – PIT) | DraftKings: $7,700/FanDuel: $8,000

I love this matchup for Sidney Crosby and the Penguins tonight. Pittsburgh hosts a Seattle side that’s 3-9-1 in its last 13 games, allowing 4.1 goals per game.

Meanwhile, Crosby continues to light up the league at age 37, where he’s 17th in points, courtesy of 12 goals (98th) and 36 assists (seventh). The star centerman has 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in his last 10 games, including logging four multi-point games during the run.

C2: Adam Fantilli (C – CBJ) | DraftKings: $4,000/FanDuel: $5,500

With Sean Monahan (upper-body) sidelined, Adam Fantilli has been elevated to Columbus’ top-line center role. He’ll be playing alongside a pair of crafty Russian wingers and will see his ice time increase, so I love the upside for the former third-overall pick.

Fantilli is up to 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) on the year, but I think he could explode tonight at home against the Flyers. Philadelphia is having a tough year with its goaltending, ranking 29th in GAA (3.18) and 32nd in SV% (.871).

W1: Lucas Raymond (LW – DET) | DraftKings: $5,900/FanDuel: $7,200

The Red Wings are on a tear right now, entering tonight’s game against the Sharks on a 7-0-0 run. Lucas Raymond has logged 12 points (four goals, eight assists) during the stretch, and he’s still the team’s leading scorer with 46 points (17 goals, 29 assists) on the season.

The winger is also third on the team in shots on goal SOG with 85 and boasts a 20% shooting rate. Look for Raymond to turn in a big outing tonight against a San Jose defense ranked 30th in GAA (3.20), 15th in SV% (.895) and 31st in high-danger shots against (185).

W2: Aliaksei Protas (C – WAS) | DraftKings: $4,200/FanDuel: $6,500

Speaking of high-danger shots, Washington’s Aliaksei Protas gets a matchup against Anaheim, who’s dead last in high-danger shots faced (197) this season. The Ducks have slid to 25th in overall defense (2.98) and 30th in total shots on goal against (1,376).

I like Protas’ chances to light the lamp tonight against a Ducks team constantly stuck in its own zone. Protas continues to cement himself as a top-six forward in this league, as he enters the night with 18 goals (27th) and 18 helpers (94th) for 36 total points (52nd).

W3: Ivan Barbashev (C – VGK) | DraftKings: $4,100/FanDuel: $6,800

Vegas’ Ivan Barbashev is back in the mix after missing some time with injury. While he hasn’t scored in his first two games back, he has racked up three SOG in each contest. Barbashev slots in on the top line and top power-play unit, the latter of which is sixth in the league at 25.74%.

The Knights take on a Predators squad that has allowed nine goals during its current 0-2-0 run. They’re just 17th in GAA (2.79) this year. I like Barbashev’s upside at this cheap price.

D1: Moritz Seider (D – DET) | DraftKings: $5,900/FanDuel: $6,300

I mentioned Detroit’s seven-game heater above, and their top defenseman, Moritz Seider, has gotten in on the scoring action as well. The 23-year-old has logged seven assists and 13 SOG during the seven-game stretch, bringing him to 26 total points (four goals, 22 assists) on the season.

Seider is fourth on the team in SOG (81). On the defensive side, he hasn’t been afraid to step in front of the puck, as the German is eighth overall in the NHL in blocked shots (98).

D2: Lane Hutson (D – MTL) | DraftKings: $4,200/FanDuel: $5,600

The Canadiens are in the midst of a 7-2-1 run, and Lane Hutson has emerged as the team’s top offensive defenseman as the season has chugged along.

The 20-year-old is up to 32 points (72nd) on the year, and his 29 assists are the 23rd-most in the NHL. I like this matchup tonight for the Habs, as they take on a Utah side that’s on a 2-6-2 stretch. They’re allowing 3.4 goals per game during the 10-game run.

G: Andrei Vasilevskiy (D – TBL) | DraftKings: $7,500/FanDuel: $8,100

I’m heading the value route and playing Andrei Vasilevskiy in net tonight. It almost feels disrespectful to call the two-time Stanley Cup and one-time Vezina winner a value option, but that has to do with his price.

The Big Cat gets a matchup against a Bruins offense that isn’t very lively, ranking just 26th in overall offense (2.6 goals per game) and 28th in shooting percentage (9.32%). Vasilevskiy just faced the B’s on Thursday, holding them to one goal on 28 shots (.964 SV%). He earned the win, moving to 18-12-2, where he now owns an impressive 2.33 GAA and .915 SV%.

UTIL: Jordan Kyrou (C – STL) | DraftKings: $6,500/FanDuel: $7,100

Let’s round things out with St. Louis’ Jordan Kyrou. The second-line winger leads the team in both points (38) and goals scored (19). He’s by far the team leader in SOG with 130, which equates to 2.9 SOG/G.

Kyrou has been extremely active in shooting lately, logging four games with five or more shots over his last seven outings. The Blues host a Flames side entering tonight on the second night of a back-to-back. Give me the well-rested Kyrou and this upward-trending Blues offense to dominate tonight.
