Fantasy Basketball Trade Advice (Week 10)

Trade For

Ausar Thompson (PF, SF – DET)

The brutal injury to Jaden Ivey shakes the Pistons up in a big way. Ivey, Detroit’s secondary ball-handler, ranks second on the team in usage percentage and averages 17.6 points and four assists per game.

Look for Ausar Thompson, Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris to fill the void, though Thompson is the most intriguing in fantasy. The young forward’s abilities as a rebounder and defender now coupled with higher scoring potential make him an interesting player.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (G – ORL), Buddy Hield (G – GSW)

Trade Away

Bilal Coulibaly (SG, SF – WAS)

Bilal Coulibaly opened the year on a hot streak and enjoyed a solid three-week stretch in December. Those games account for about half of his total appearances on the year. The other half has been full of poor outings.

Despite ranking 17th in the NBA in minutes per game and playing on a struggling Washington roster, Coulibaly has registered just one double-double this season. It seemed like the Frenchman was headed for a breakout year, but he’s averaging just 12.8 points on 42.6% shooting from the field and 29.7% from deep.

Trade For

D’Angelo Russell (PG, SG – BKN)

D’Angelo Russell’s first game back in Brooklyn was a great one. He scored 22 points on 69.2% shooting with eight assists. It’s unlikely Russell will average 22 points per game the rest of the season, but his immediate impact on the offense in just 26 minutes was encouraging.

Cam Thomas didn’t play in that game but remember how effective Dennis Schroder was earlier in the year alongside Thomas. It’s not unrealistic to think Russell can’t replicate the 18.3 points and 6.2 assists Schroder averaged with Thomas.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Higher: Miles Bridges (F – CHA)

Trade Away

Miles Bridges (SF, PF – CHA)

Miles Bridges was two assists away from a 31-point triple-double on Monday, and that should be the backbone of your trade negotiations. He needed 32 shots to score those 31 without Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball in the lineup. You should hope your trade partner doesn’t know that.

Ball is Charlotte’s offense and Miller is second-in-command. Bridges has taken a backseat as half of his 15.4 attempts per game are threes, making just 27.7% of them.

Players to Trade Him For Who Are Ranked Lower: Josh Giddey (G – CHI), D’Angelo Russell (G – BKN), Tyler Herro (G – MIA)
