2025 NFL Draft Questions: Shedeur Sanders, Ashton Jeanty, Cam Ward

With the AFC and NFC Championship games on the horizon, the 2024-25 NFL season will be over before we know it.

From there, it’s all eyes on the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite the season not being over yet, there are numerous questions associated with the 2025 NFL Draft we hope to see answered between now and Draft Day.

Below are my biggest questions for entering the NFL Draft. I’ll also provide my best guesses as of right now.

2025 NFL Draft’s Biggest Questions

Who Will the Titans Draft First Overall?

Given that the Titans are drafting first overall, it’s safe to say that the quarterback position didn’t quite work out for them.

The incumbent Titans head coach is Brian Callahan. This was his first season with the team. He wasn’t part of the regime that drafted Will Levis.

The general manager who was, Ran Carthon, has since been fired.

In 2024, Levis completed 63.1% of his passes for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 games.

He simply didn’t get it done.

Thus, I expect them to look at a quarterback, specifically Cam Ward.

Ward has excellent arm talent, but he’s like the QB5 or QB6 compared to the 2024 NFL Draft class.

This could be a situation in which the “quarterback tax” comes to fruition and the Titans take a chance on Ward with the first overall pick.

Will the Cleveland Browns Take a Quarterback Second Overall?

Assuming the Titans take Ward No. 1, will the Browns follow that up with another quarterback selection?

Shedeur Sanders is viewed as the next best quarterback in the class, or even above Ward.

The Browns are in an intriguing position because Deshaun Watson‘s contract is fully guaranteed, He is likely out for the 2025 season after tearing his Achilles not once but twice. He tore it mere months after his initial tear during his rehab period.

The Browns could draft a quarterback or perhaps develop talent on the roster for one in the future.

Their options with pick No. 2 include offensive linemen, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter or wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

Something else to consider: Would Sanders, if Ward went No. 1 overall, be OK with going to Cleveland? I’m not so sure.

If it were me, I’d figure out a patchwork quarterback situation and take a blue-chip player like Hunter.

Can the Giants Land a Quarterback at Pick No. 3?

Ahead of the Giants are two quarterback-needy teams, the Titans and the Browns.

The Titans seem highly likely to take a quarterback, whereas the Browns may, but there are other options.

They could also trade with the Giants and pick up an extra pick or two to assist with building their roster while the Giants get Sanders.

The Giants’ current regime of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll is likely under massive pressure to produce results in 2025. That starts with the quarterback position.

If the Titans and Browns each take a quarterback, the Giants could turn to someone like Hunter and sign a veteran quarterback like Sam Darnold or Aaron Rodgers.

That said, this team must address the quarterback and get some results. If not, Daboll and Schoen could be unemployed by this time next year.

What Will the Las Vegas Raiders Do at the Quarterback Position?

We’ve gone over three teams with the top three picks that all need quarterbacks.

Another team that needs a quarterback is the Raiders.

There’s one problem, though — they’re drafting sixth overall.

As mentioned with the Giants, the Raiders could opt to trade up to No. 2 and take Sanders.

There are many ties between Raiders minority owner Tom Brady and Sanders, so you’d have to assume there’s ample interest.

The Raiders had a platoon of signal-callers in 2024 with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell.

My hunch is they’ll explore trading up, but this is a tough spot to be in. They’d need to sacrifice a lot of assets to move up in a quarterback class that I’m not sure I consider “franchise-altering.”

How High Will Ashton Jeanty Be Drafted?

Ashton Jeanty is a rare athlete for the running back position, finishing just shy of Barry Sanders’ single-season NCAA college football rushing record.

In 2024 with Boise State, he ran 374 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Looking at the draft board, his floor is seemingly the Dallas Cowboys at No. 12 overall.

Before them, a team like the Raiders could be in play at No. 6 overall, though that could be “too rich” for a running back.

I expect Jeanty to not only be a first-round pick, but I’d be surprised to see him fall out of the first half of round one.

Who Will Trade Up Before Draft Night?

When a team trades up before draft night, it’s typically with a quarterback in mind.

The only two quarterbacks I could see going in the first round are Ward and Sanders, simply because they’re the perceived top signal-callers in this draft.

As mentioned earlier, I’m not sure either one of them would be drafted ahead of Bo Nix if they were the same prospects now but in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Other quarterbacks like Alabama’s Jalen Milroe could potentially get the Lamar Jackson or Teddy Bridgewater treatment. By that, I mean a team trading up at the end of the first round to draft one to secure the fifth-year option.

Two teams to watch regarding trading up are the Giants and Raiders, and it would be with the Browns at No. 2 overall.

Will the Cowboys Bring In Deion Sanders and Make a Splash for Shedeur Sanders?

It’s well known the Cowboys have reached out to Deion Sanders. That said, it seems like he is saying “thanks, but no thanks” at the moment.

The Cowboys are drafting 12th overall. To move up to get Shedeur Sanders, they’d have to give up a lot of assets. They could include quarterback Dak Prescott in the deal to help limit the amount of draft pick capital they’d give up.

Deion has made it clear he’d only consider the NFL if he could coach both of his sons, Shedeur and Shilo.

Shilo is a bit easier to solve as he’s likely a Day 3 draft pick, but getting Shedeur with the teams ahead of him could be complicated.

For now, I’ll say no to both Deion coming to Dallas and the Cowboys landing Shedeur.

How Many Quarterbacks Get Drafted in Round 1?

Sanders and Ward are fine talents, but if I were to craft a big board, they’d be end-of-the-first-round talents.

However, as we all know, quarterbacks do get drafted high in the NFL Draft.

We have numerous examples from the past, including EJ Manuel, Christian Ponder, Kenny Pickett, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Trey Lance, and the list goes on and on.

Thus, I’d guess two quarterbacks go in round one: Ward and Sanders.

The only way I’d see a third one is a team trading up into the end of the first round for a signal-caller like Milroe to bet on the skill set and secure his fifth-year option.
