  • Since Week 13, Washington has ranked fourth in neutral pace and 15th in neutral passing rate.

Falcons Players & Weekly Rankings

Commanders Players & Weekly Rankings

Must-Start

These are no-brainer MUST starts.

Strong Starts

Here are players that should be in starting consideration for most fantasy teams.

Michael Penix Jr. (QB)

Last week, Penix Jr. was the QB30 for the week, but that doesn’t really tell the full story about his level of play. Among 32 qualifying passers last week, Penix Jr. was ninth in yards per attempt (9.48), 12th in CPOE (3.4%), and 11th in highly accurate throw rate (55.6%). Penix Jr. and this offense will be pushed this week to put up points to keep pace with Jayden Daniels and company. This could propel Penix Jr. to strong QB2 numbers. Since Week 11, Washington has allowed the fourth-fewest yards per attempt, the fourth-fewest passing yards per game, and the ninth-lowest passer rating.

Drake London (WR)

London is the WR18 in fantasy points per game, ranking fourth among wide receivers in red zone targets. Last week, London was the WR41 in weekly scoring as Atlanta was able to sit on their lead against the hapless Giants. Against New York, London had a 29.6% target share, a 33.3% air-yard share, 2.95 YPRR (59 receiving yards), and a 38.1% first-read share. If Atlanta is pushed by Washington’s offense this week, London could have a heavy workload. London will have to overcome a tough matchup, but with a healthy dose of volume and the improved quarterback play of Penix Jr., he can do it. Since Week 11, Washington has allowed the third-fewest PPR points per target and the fourth-fewest receiving yards per game to perimeter wide receivers.

Darnell Mooney (WR)

Last week, Mooney was the WR31 in fantasy, drawing a 22.2% target share, a 49.3% air-yard share, and a 23.8% first-read share with 3.42 YPRR (82 receiving yards). With Washington pushing Atlanta to score and possibly take to the air this week, Mooney could enjoy a higher floor and ceiling this week. Mooney is a strong WR3 who could out-kick that categorization. Since Week 11, Washington has allowed the third-fewest PPR points per target and the fourth-fewest receiving yards per game to perimeter wide receivers.

Olamide Zaccheaus (WR)

Last week, Zaccheaus was the WR6 in fantasy with a 60.5% route share, a 20.5% target share, 2.50 YPRR, and a 26.1% first-read share. He also had two red zone targets (two scores). Zaccheaus is a nice plug-and-play flex this week. Since Week 11, Atlanta has allowed the most receiving yards per game and the most PPR points per target to perimeter wide receivers.

Zach Ertz (TE)

Ertz is the TE14 in fantasy points per game, ranking seventh in red zone targets among tight ends. He has been a TE1 in 47% of his games this season. Ertz has a 16.6% target share, 1.40 YPRR, and a 17% first-read share. Ertz is a fringe TE1 this week. Atlanta has allowed the 13th-highest yards per reception to tight ends while also ranking 18th in fantasy points per game allowed to the position.

Fantasy Football Week 17 Flex Plays & Fades

Tread lightly with these players who are questionable starts or players I’m fading this week.

Brian Robinson Jr. (RB)

Over the last two weeks, Robinson Jr. has played 63-74% of the snaps while averaging 18 touches and 64 total yards. Overall, Robinson Jr. is the RB25 in fantasy points per game, ranking 25th in opportunity share and 19th in red zone touches. Among 65 qualifying backs, Robinson Jr. ranks 15th in explosive run rate and 36th in missed tackles forced per attempt. Robinson will need a touchdown and to lean on his volume this week against Atlanta’s now stout run defense. Since Week 11, Atlanta has allowed the fewest rushing yards per game, the sixth-lowest explosive run rate, and the 12th-lowest missed tackle rate.

Kyle Pitts (TE)

Last week, Pitts had a 51.7% route share with only a 7.4% target share and a 4.8% first-read share. He hasn’t had more than 28 receiving yards in a game since Week 10. Pitts is a must-sit. Washington has allowed the fourth-lowest yards per reception and the fifth-fewest receiving yards per game to tight ends.

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers

Pace and play calling notes

  • Since Week 11, the 49ers have had the fourth-slowest neutral pace while ranking 17th in neutral passing rate. During the same timeframe, Detroit has had the 13th-slowest neutral pace while ranking 12th in neutral rushing rate.

Lions Players & Weekly Rankings

49ers Players & Weekly Rankings

Must-Start

These are no-brainer MUST starts.

Strong Starts

Here are players that should be in starting consideration for most fantasy teams.

Brock Purdy (QB)

Purdy is the QB11 in fantasy points per game and has seven QB1 outings this season. Among 43 qualifying passers, he ranks third in yards per attempt, 15th in passer rating, eighth in passing yards per game, and 14th in CPOE. Purdy should have his way with Detroit’s downgraded pass defense. Since Week 13, Detroit has allowed the most yards per attempt, the highest passer rating, the third-most passing yards per game, and the fifth-most passing touchdowns.

Isaac Guerendo (RB)

Guerendo could be back this week (foot, hamstring). He has practiced on a limited basis. In his two starts this season, Guerendo has averaged 18.5 touches and 101.5 total yards. Guerendo has had nice per-touch metrics with an 8.2% explosive run rate and a 23% missed tackle rate. Guerendo has a strong matchup this week against a downgraded Detroit run defense. Since Week 13, Detroit has allowed the 12th-most rushing yards per game, the ninth-highest missed tackle rate, and the ninth-most yards before contact per attempt.

Jauan Jennings (WR)

Since Week 10, Jennings has been the WR25 in fantasy points per game while seeing seven red zone targets. Since Week 7, Detroit has ranked tenth in single-high rate (56.9%). Since Week 10, against single-high, Jennings has had a 29% target share, a 40.5% air-yard share, 2.45 YPRR, and a 33.3% first-read share. Detroit has been bleeding out production to boundary wide receivers. Since Week 13, Detroit has allowed the most receiving yards per game and the third-most PPR points per target to perimeter wide receivers.

Deebo Samuel Sr. (WR)

Last week was Samuel’s first game as a top-24 wide receiver in weekly scoring since Week 10. He scored his first touchdown since Week 6 despite seeing six red zone targets in his last eight games. Samuel could keep the good times rolling this week against Detroit’s depleted secondary. Since Week 7, Detroit has ranked tenth in single-high rate (56.9%). Since Week 10, against single-high, Samuel has had a 21.5% target share, 1.62 YPRR, and a 25.6% first-read share. Detroit has been bleeding out production to boundary wide receivers. Since Week 13, Detroit has allowed the most receiving yards per game and the third-most PPR points per target to perimeter wide receivers.

Jameson Williams (WR)

Williams is the WR24 in fantasy points per game with five red zone targets in his last four games. He has finished as a top-24 wide receiver in weekly scoring five times. Since Week 10, San Francisco has had the fifth-highest single-high rate (65.1%). Against single-high, Williams has had a 16.2% target share and 20% first-read share while also flashing 2.49 YPRR and 0.114 FD/RR. The market share metrics for Williams against single high haven’t been outstanding, but he has made the most of his opportunities with strong efficiency marks. Williams is a strong WR3/flex play this week. Since Week 11, San Francisco has allowed the tenth-most PPR points per target to perimeter wide receivers.

Sam LaPorta (TE)

After starting slow this season, LaPorta has been on fire recently. He has been a TE1 in weekly scoring in five of his last six games as the TE8 in fantasy points per game. Since Week 10, LaPorta has had a 17.2% target share, 1.63 YPRR, and an 18.3% first-read share with ten red zone targets. LaPorta remains a TE1 this week, but he’s facing a horrible matchup. Across the last five weeks, San Francisco has allowed the fifth-fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points per game to tight ends.
