NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $9,000
- FanDuel: $9,200
Fox has been one of the more consistent contributors lately, going for 21.0 PPG, 6.3 APG, and 6.0 RPG in three games in December. He has rolled up 11 total steals in the past three games, too, including six steals last time out in Memphis on Thursday. That ended up erasing the bad taste of his 0-for-7 night from behind the 3-point line.
The last time Fox faced the Spurs wasn’t long ago, as the teams played on Dec. 1 in Sacto. He had 23 points, nine assists, and six rebounds with three 3-pointers, so there’s that.
- DraftKings: $8,800
- FanDuel: $8,900
Maxey is a strong play in Friday’s game against the Magic, especially since he’ll basically be the No. 1 scoring option. “The Franchise” ended up with 16 points, six assists, four rebounds, and two steals last time out against Orlando in the front end of the home-and-home. He was 0-for-7 from behind the 3-point line, but he should show improvement in that department in the rematch. He finished out November with three or more triples in four straight outings.
- DraftKings: $9,500
- FanDuel: $9,600
Wagner is a great play to build your DFS lineup around. First off, a lot of the bigs going into Friday are either resting, might rest, or are questionable to play. Wagner is 100 percent healthy, and he’ll be operating against a Philadelphia team that does not have Joel Embiid in the middle.
We saw first-hand what Wagner can do against the 76ers when Embiid isn’t patrolling the paint, as he went for 35 points in Wednesday’s 106-102 win in Philadelphia while adding seven boards, two assists, and a blocked shot. He hit 12-of-23 field-goal attempts, his second straight game with at least 10 successful makes.
NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $7,800
- FanDuel: $7,900
Johnson is coming off a giant game, going for 23 points with 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a blocked shot in 40 minutes, while hitting 10-of-19 from the field. He has made more shots than he has missed in seven consecutive games. There’s a chance LeBron James (knee) will miss this game due to a sore left foot, which might mean more room to operate for Johnson.
Johnson is averaging 20.7 PPG with 10.7 RPG and 4.0 APG across the past three tries against Western Conference opponents.
- DraftKings: $6,300
- FanDuel: $6,700
Daniels is coming off a stinker, and he has been a bit erratic lately. However, like Johnson (above), he seems to save his best for Western Conference foes. He scored 19 points with six rebounds and four steals Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans, and he is averaging 15.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 2.3 APG in the past three tries against the West. In addition, he has added six steals in the past two games against teams from the West while blocking three shots.
- DraftKings: $6,500
- FanDuel: $6,500
Suggs went for 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting Wednesday in Philadelphia, including four 3-pointers. He also added six assists with three steals in his 37 minutes. Suggs has double digits in five consecutive games since a two-point stinker against Detroit on Nov. 23. In December, Suggs is averaging 14.3 PPG, 4.7 APG, 2.7 RPG, and 2.3 SPG in three games while hitting five 3-pointers.
NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $6,600
- FanDuel: $6,800
This is a cheap price for Gobert, although he has really struggled in the scoring department. In two games in December, he is averaging 12.5 PPG with 10.5 RPG and 3.0 SPG in two games, missing just field-goal attempts on 12 tries.
- DraftKings: $6,600
- FanDuel: $6,200
Wiggins (ankle) shook off an injury to play Thursday against the Houston Rockets. He went for 23 points, nine assists, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot with three triples, hitting 8-of-15 from the field. Wiggins has knocked down at least two 3-pointers in nine straight games dating back to Nov. 15.
Guerschon Yabusele (PF, C – PHI)
- DraftKings: $6,000
- FanDuel: $6,000
Joel Embiid will be sidelined for a seventh consecutive game due to his knee injury. With Embiid and Adem Bona (knee) on the shelf, and Andre Drummond (ankle) carrying a questionable tag, it looks like Yabusele should continue to get some solid run.
NBA DFS Value Plays
Julian Champagnie (SG, SF – SAS)
- DraftKings: $4,900
- FanDuel: $5,600
Champagnie has been a surprise contributor for the Spurs this season, as the former St. John’s Red Storm standout is averaging a healthy 11.8 PPG and 5.2 RPG this season. In three games in December, he is averaging 13.3 PPG with 5.7 RPG with 2.3 3PT per game, slightly above his averages.
- DraftKings: $4,700
- FanDuel: $5,100
Knecht is due for a breakout game, as he has had a couple of rough outings in December so far. He has hit just 6-of-22 (27.3%) from the field, and he has only a single 3-pointer in nine tries. Against a Hawks team that allows 118.4 PPG and 38.3% from behind the 3-point line, Knecht should be able to warm up.
- DraftKings: $3,200
- FanDuel: $3,700
Reddish could end up exceeding his salary expectations by miles if LeBron James misses Friday’s game due to a sore left foot. He carries a questionable tag into the game, and against an inferior opponent, why consider making things worse?
