Griddy: Fantasy Football Puzzles & Sports Strategy Game

Griddy is a nine round fantasy football team builder puzzle. Those familiar with FIFA Ultimate Team will recognize the concept, but for those unfamiliar with it, the concept is simple. The puzzle is nine rounds. Draft one player card from the three randomly generated options and then strategically place them on your team’s grid. Don’t forget to adjust player card placement as desired to test out different chemistry combinations. Users get three drafts per day to try to get the highest draft grade score possible. Your draft grade score is based on two factors: talent and chemistry.

Talent

Player cards are sorted into five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Hero. Bronze gives you three talent points, Silver gives five, Gold gives eight, Platinum gives 11, and finally, the Hero cards give 15 talent points. Hero cards are upgraded versions of some of the top players in the league. This means there can be both a Platinum and a Hero version of someone like Joe Burrow.

The odds of receiving good player options are reduced with each round. This is something to bear in mind when strategizing your grid. The more grids you build, the more familiar you will become with what potential options may show up and when. For instance, those who choose to wait on the QB position may find that this strategy often results in seeing someone like Bryce Young or Will Levis showing up in round nine. While 135 is the highest talent score possible, this requires securing all Hero cards, which will not happen. Talent is very important, but chemistry is often even more important in terms of cracking the leaderboard.

Chemistry

In Griddy: Football Puzzles, you create chemistry by connecting players on the grid from the same team, division, and/or draft class. Chemistry is critical to achieving a high score and for hopes of cracking the leaderboard. RNG ensures that luck will be involved in putting together the highest scoring grid possible, but recognizing patterns will also aid in your ascension up the leaderboard. You can move players to different positions on the grid at any time during your draft, and it is important to help ensure that you get graded with the highest score possible.

Based on leaderboard watching, there are many more points to be had through chemistry score, so this is something that I have found helpful to focus on instead of just trying to slot the best possible talent in to boost my talent score. Focusing on teammates where possible has been a good way to help boost my chemistry score. Focusing on players from more recent draft classes has also been helpful, as these classes have more players who are still in the league than Travis Kelce or Aaron Rodgers’ draft classes.

Griddy: Football Puzzles is an entertaining game that combines strategy, luck, pattern recognition, and fantasy football acumen into one exciting new puzzle/game. Drafts take two to three minutes, making them similar to Wordle in that you can get your session in with your morning coffee, while on a break at work, or to keep yourself occupied while you are otherwise indisposed. It is a great fantasy game to challenge your friends (or rivals) to and offers a complementary football experience during the week when there are no games and even on game day when you want a little more fantasy football action. So whether you are embroiled in a playoff run or have already started looking towards next season, Griddy: Football Puzzles is a fun and entertaining way to get your daily fantasy football fix. As the subreddit illuminates, Griddy is here to stay and will only continue to grow in popularity.
